A Way for a Stray, Inc. pledges to assist and aid in the care and placement of homeless, neglected and abandoned dogs in the city of Miami. Through various fundraising events and individual donations, we aim to facilitate services such as spay or neuter and basic vetting. We will also offer care and protection for these animals until proper fostering and placement in forever homes can be made. While providing these services we also wish to bring about community awareness and education through various efforts within the service area.
Through our charitable organization we wish to foster an environment of change for the betterment of the city of Miami and the relationship between humans and animals.
Dutchess is our newest memeber of the AWFAS family. Dutchess was rescued from Miami Dade Animal Servies and is suffering from severe Demodex so infected that she lost most of her fur and her skin was so raw that as she would walk her skin would crack and bleed. This poor girl also required a blood transfusion. She arrived at the shelter with a body score of 1.5 out of 9. Dutchess has been our most recent large project as the first week for her the veterinary team kept telling us not to be unrealistic that this angel may not survive. We are happy to announce that her last day of antibiotics will be 11/16. Dutchess is looking for her forever family.
