$165,000 Goal
Since 1984, The Education Fund has had one mission – to maximize every public school child’s potential. By raising student achievement, particularly for children from financially disadvantaged homes, we raise hopes and improve futures for entire families. We focus on the challenges facing public schools in Miami-Dade County, the third-largest district in the U.S., working closely with teachers, administrators, parents, and community/business leaders to implement programs that reach all 470+ schools, 20,000+ educators, and 337,100+ students.
OUR SUCCESSES INCLUDE:
* Providing 3,682,000+ students/families with $25.5 million+ in school supplies (paper, books, pens, crayons, etc.) and household basics (paper products; hygiene supplies) since Hurricane Andrew.
* Supporting a 71% improvement in students’ science achievement and STEM proficiency and 75% improvement in students’ math performance, all while improving eating attitudes and habits by 50% through our first-in-the-nation Food Forests for Schools reaching 43,000+ students
* Increasing college enrollment by 34% in high-need demonstration schools as one of three nonprofits selected nationally, through our SmartPath program
* Inspiring 203,000+ students and teachers via $1.1+ million raised to support an annual juried 'found object' exhibition and auction
* Bridging the digital divide for 10,000+ families by providing each child with a home computer and training for all their parents
* Raising more than $86+ million in order to transform our public schools!
Thank you for your support!
We believe in the power and importance of public education to maximize every child's potential and ensure each one graduates with every opportunity for success. For 40 years, we have worked alongside Miami-Dade County Public Schools to meet the needs of students, families, teachers, principals, and the community. With your support, we direct resources where they are needed most. We develop leadership in schools and train teachers to help more children succeed. We pilot and improve upon successful innovations - including technology distribution, outdoor eco-labs filled with nutritious fruits and vegetables that students love, an 11,000 square foot warehouse of free educational materials, an annual art exhibit and auction using 'found object' materials, a student culinary festival, college readiness, and so much more. We invite you to join us in our quest to support our heroes (our educators) and our communities' children.
