Because Teeny Violini's mission is to be a mobile music education program that provides access to high-quality music education services for early learners in underserved communities, one of the most significant obstacles for Teeny Violini to expand has been funding. Even with our low-cost model, it's still out of reach for many early childhood centers that serve children in need of this programming the most. The last four years have been a struggle for so many families, including arts education programs in early learning centers being treated like an out-of-reach luxury.

However, we know from extensive research that music activities like the ones provided through the Teeny Violini program are essential for overall brain development. As music creates pathways in the brain, a child's cognitive functioning improves as music is instrumental in developing language, reading skills, and mathematical abilities. Additionally, time interacting with music increases children's auditory perception as the brain makes sense of what it hears through the ears. This process is considered by those who study child development as one of the essential skills for reading. Patterns learned through music education also form the basis of literacy and numeracy. Exposure to patterning through musical activities like those found in our curriculum will significantly help a child academically when learning to read, write, spell, and do math. Finally, music provides a delightful and essential mode of self-expression for children. Through engaging in music activities, children develop a sense of creativity and express themselves, which is an integral part of their development.

Mission

Teeny Violini is a mobile music education program that provides access to high quality music education services for early learners in underserved communities. While using colors and shapes to create an innovative and relatable approach to understanding rhythm and basic music theory, along with the violin as a teaching tool, we cultivate an immersive creative learning environment that builds social and emotional wellness in early learners through music.

While the benefits of music education are essential for every child, many of the children served in our program often face the additional burden of the complex trauma caused by poverty. While Teeny Violini is not designed as music therapy, studies indicate that individual music-making and music appreciation can help trauma victims in therapeutic settings and less formal settings like our Teeny Violini program.
