The cornerstone of The Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival of Miami philosophy emphasizes Gingold’s passionate commitment to music and humanity. Authentic performance practices are embodied by the art of Josef Gingold, one of the primary exponents of the Golden Age of music and violin playing.
The Gingold Chamber Music Festival of Miami emphasizes scholarships to musicians from historically underrepresented communities in South Florida. We offer the fully invested instrumentalists, pre-formed ensembles and composers a unique opportunity to learn from some of the world’s leading pedagogues and touring artists. The program provides private lessons, studio classes, master classes, and an array of student/faculty interactions which contextualize aspects of performance and the business of music. Highlights include concert offerings by Gingold Virtuosi, a unique ensemble comprised of faculty artists preparing and performing alongside selected festival young artist participants as well as a new festival initiative, the Composers Institute, which centers on composition for chamber music ensembles.
Gingold Virtuosi concerts offer a range of chamber ensemble performances that includes piano trios, string quartets and quintets performing a wide array of concert repertoire at acoustically acclaimed venues. A recent international roster of guest artists includes Elmar Oliveira, Emanuel Ax, Julian Rachlin, Gil Shaham, Gary Hoffman, Rafael Figueroa, Roberto Diaz, Ian Hobson, David Harding, Toby Appel, Gerard Schwarz and Nicola Benedetti, among others. In addition to the Artistic and Music Director, Andrés Cárdenes, the festival’s core faculty include Yuriy Bekker, Michael Klotz, Gary Levinson, Andrés Diaz, Wendy Chen, Meredith Riley and Orlando Jacinto Garcia, who curate the program with a modern outlook intended to prepare Gingold Festival participants for a successful 21st century career in music.
Our goal is to be a totally tuition free festival enabling a direct connection between gifted students and world class faculty.
The Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival of Miami focuses on revealing the creativity of pre-professional artists by eliciting authentic performance practices along with rigorous study and mentorship by distinguished faculty.
