To fulfill its mission, the Chopin Foundation works with music schools, teachers, and partner organizations to identify and support the most promising young classical pianists performing today. The Foundation promotes their careers through concert opportunities, annual scholarships, competition prizes, and professional connections. Each year, the CHOPIN for ALL free concert series brings world-class music to thousands of audience members across South Florida, including many in underserved communities.

Our Scholarship Program for Young Pianists supports dedicated students in the U.S. who are actively engaged in lessons and coaching, while deepening their study of Chopin’s repertoire. Awards are paid directly to teachers, schools, and festivals, ensuring that resources go exactly where they are needed most.

The National Chopin Piano Competition, the Foundation’s flagship event, has earned a distinguished reputation in Miami and throughout the international classical music community. Founded in 1975 by Mrs. Blanka A. Rosenstiel, the Foundation continues to nurture young American pianists and celebrate the enduring legacy of Fryderyk Chopin.

This year, that legacy resonated around the world: Eric Lu, First Prize Winner of the 2015 National Chopin Piano Competition, won First Prize at the 2025 International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, becoming only the second American in history to receive the Competition’s highest honor, after Garrick Ohlsson in 1970. William Yang, First Prize Winner of the 2025 National Chopin Piano Competition in Miami, also represented the United States in Warsaw, earning Sixth Prize among the world’s most gifted pianists.

For more than 25 years, the Chopin Foundation has offered the CHOPIN for ALL free concert series. Free for all—but at a cost to the Foundation—each concert requires approximately $10,000 to produce. Your support makes it possible to keep these concerts accessible to everyone.

Your Give Miami Day contribution helps sustain these programs, providing scholarships to young pianists, concert opportunities to rising artists, and free access to the timeless music of Chopin for everyone in our community.
