From Miami to the World: Nurturing the Legacy of HBCUs

Rdevia began as a small seed planted in Miami—founded in 2015 by Marquise M. McGriff, M.A., CCSP, during his first year at Florida Memorial University, an HBCU with a proud legacy of resilience and excellence. From those humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a national and international movement, empowering Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the communities they serve.

HBCUs have always been more than schools—they are catalysts for change, producing leaders and innovators who shape industries, uplift communities, and advance justice. At Rdevia, we believe that the legacy of HBCUs belongs to everyone. Their success strengthens our society, fuels opportunity, and creates a better future for all.

Though Miami is and will always be our home, our impact extends far beyond. Across 20 states and through partnerships in Ghana, the U.K., and beyond, we:

  • Provide scholarships to ensure HBCU students can pursue their dreams.
  • Deliver care packages to support students’ mental and physical well-being.
  • Mentor future leaders and empower them to give back to their communities.
  • Inspire action through service and advocacy for education equity.

By giving to Rdevia, you’re not just investing in Miami—you’re supporting a ripple effect of transformation that spans the globe. Your generosity fuels scholarships, builds community programs, and ensures that the vital work of HBCUs continues to thrive.

Your support this year will fuel some of our plans for next year including:

  1. Hiring 2 HBCU Student Interns, whose stipend will be equivalent to $15 an hour +/-.
  2. Launching a new scholarship for students who make an impact in their community.
  3. Providing care packages to HBCU students at Edward Waters College, Florida A+M University, and Talladega College in collaboration with the JCS Project and Whataburger.
  4. Relaunching our virtual panel series: Hillman Talks!
  5. Hosting a celebration in honor of our 10th Anniversary where will give awards to HBCU leaders.

Join us in honoring the legacy of HBCUs and expanding their impact far beyond their campuses. Together, we can make a difference in Miami, across the nation, and around the world.
