Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association Inc

Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association "MDCFAPA" is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1993.  MDCFAPA is recognized by The Department of Children and Families and the State of Florida. MDCFAPA is an affiliate in partnership with local CBCs and agencies representing youth in congregate care.  MDCFAPA are the actual caretakers of the more than 2,800 youth in foster care, those adopted, in kinship and non-relative care, as well as those in independent living who have aged out of the system ages 18-23 in Miami-Dade and Southern Broward Counties. These are persons who have been abandoned, neglected and abused (physically, mentally and/or sexually).   We, the foster/adoptive/kinship and nonrelative caregivers know them best because they live with us until they are able to return home or mature into young adults to become productive good citizens.  Since 1983 MDCFAPA has strategically moved forward in supportive services  to this special population.

MDCFAPA strives to assist in giving our youth in care safety along with a harmonious environment of "normalcy" just like every other child!  MDCFAPA provides weekly and monthly workshops/trainings on lifeskills, wellness, safety, money management and more.  We seek out and provide scholarships in the arts, sports, stem and just about anything our youth wish to enhance their lifesyles giving them a better sense of "hope for today and all their tomorrows".   MDCFAPA takes youth and caregivers to conferences and workshops in Miami and through the State of Florida.  We also train and support the foster/adoptive caregivers because they too are to be valued as they are volunteers giving of their time.  We share love through an umbrella of support systems because love is just not enough!
