Founded with the belief that clinicians are society's most trusted messengers, Florida Clinicians for Climate Action advocates for equitable public health solutions to climate change by educating and engaging Florida clinicians. Today, with nearly 500 members across the state, FCCA engages and educates clinicians and their patients on strategies so they may live healthier lives.

Your donation during this year's Give Miami-Dade will directly support FCCA's Climate Health Outreach Team program, called "Project C-HOT". This initiative, pioneered by FCCA, partners with community health centers and trains volunteers as young as high school students to share critically important information about the health effects of climate change in high heat vulnerability areas in Miami-Dade County. For example, a "Project C-HOT" group might go to Miami's Liberty City and speak with clinicians and residents about how heat affects prescriptions, and how they might store them differently; or, they might talk about how to stay cool when they're outside. Volunteers benefit as well, as future clinicians must have climate health as part of their practice in order to properly serve patients.

From September 2022 to September 2023, Project C-HOT educated more than 400 clinicians and patients across 15 locations in Miami. We're fundraising $3,000 (matched to $6,000) to continue "Project C-HOT". Education like this saves lives. The more people we can reach, the healthier our communities will be!
